POTSDAM – After several years of serving the North Country the owners of Yum Yum’s Chilly Delight in Potsdam have decided to close the business permanently in the month of October.
"Getting yogurt products at a competitive price is just too difficult," says Duane Pelkey, who co-owns the business with his wife, Laurean. "The majority of our customers will only go so far on a price point."
Local vendors stopped delivering frozen yogurt for the most part a few years ago. The Pelkeys have been driving to Syracuse to get Frozen Yogurt product to be able to keep their prices down but with an increase in product prices plus fuel higher than what it was a year ago have made the costs too high.
"With our final product pick up we feel we have a product to take us into October holding our prices,” said Pelkey. “Going forward we'll focus our attention on Scoops which are seasonal and afford us semi-retirement."
Scoops is also owned by the Pelkeys and will remain open seasonally since vendors still readily supply the products needed to operate that business.
“We want to thank all of our customers for their support these past years.”
