The unemployment rate in St. Lawrence County currently stands at 4.2%, without seasonal adjustment, 0.1 percent lower than the New York state seasonally adjusted rate.
According to a state Department of Labor report issued this week, the county’s unemployment rate increased 0.4 percent when comparing November 2022 to November 2023.
The state unemployment rate is 4.3 percent.
In neighboring counties, the unemployment in Jefferson County is 4.5 percent, up 0.6 percent from 3.9 percent in November 2022. Franklin County’s unemployment rate is 3.9 percent, a rise of 0.5 percent from 3.4 percent in November 2022.
