North Country This Week
CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will officially welcome Canton's newest eatery, Wimpy’s Inn, 11 Main St., with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m.
Julia and Ethan Henry opened the Canton location on Nov. 28.
The Henrys and their family transitioned their Wimpy’s Inn food truck back to a brick-and-mortar location at 809 Ford Street in Ogdensburg in 2022, in close proximity to the original Wimpy’s.
The family legacy and tradition was started by Julia’s grandfather, George Wells, in 1948.
“The Henry’s are thrilled to now have another Wimpy’s Inn in Canton, “ said Ben Dixon, executive director of the County Chamber.
The Canton restaurant offers its signature Wimpy burgers and Texas Hots along with new food choices such as chicken, poutine and garbage plates.
The menu also includes fish burgers topped with cabbage salad, hand-cut French fries, macaroni and cheese, fish and shrimp dinners. Customers can also order hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs without Wimpy sauce.
Julia Henry told North Country This Week she had been looking to expand and Canton was always in her sights. When Tam’s Grill & Cantina closed, Henry was quick to act. The location was already fitted with kitchen equipment and seating, making for a smooth transition.
“This is a huge deal for Wimpy’s and our family,” she said.
Wimpy’s Inn is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Patrons have the option of dining in or takeout. To preorder, call Wimpy’s at 315-714-1066 or order online at www.wimpysinn.com.
Customers can park on Main Street (if available) or in the municipal parking lot off Riverside Drive behind Wimpy’s Inn.
