POTSDAM — The search for a new general manager for the Potsdam Food Co-Op is continuing and the co-op board of directors still has a call out for candidates for the position.

The starting annual salary for the position will be between $55,000 and $95,000 depending on experience. And, a comprehensive benefits package is included.

The co-op has been helmed by interim general manager Jesse LaRose since March after former general manager Andy Peet stepped down.

The new manager candidate who takes the position over will run the organization in its 50th year as it continues to work to stabilize its financial footing and prepares to launch a major, grant-funded expansion of its store at 24 Elm Street.

“We are seeking an enthusiastic, visionary person with experience in grocery and/or retail management who has the ability to develop a close working relationship with the Board of Directors,” the board of directors said in a message to its membership in May.

“The ideal candidate must have strong leadership qualities and demonstrate expertise with managing and motivating a team. They need to have excellent communication skills and a vision for how the Co-op can become a stronger business and build its membership base,” the directors said.

The new manager will be charged with financial planning, marketing, handling personnel, and the daily operations of the co-op including developing relationships with suppliers and local producers.

Five or more years of experience in a leadership or management role is required, preferably in a food business.
