CANTON — Nick Lyndaker has been named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Hamilton Short Course Saturday, the coaches association announced Monday afternoon.
The award is the latest accolade for Lyndaker, a 2023 All-American, after his championship run at Hamilton in which he cleared the field by 21 seconds.
The Canton native turned in his best 5k performance with a time of 15:10.7, 12 seconds better than his second-place finish in the same event last year.
It is the second honor of the week for Lyndaker, who was also named Liberty League Performer of the Week for the period ending September 16.
National Athlete of the Week is an award selected and presented by the USTFCCCA Communications Staff at the beginning of each week to 14 collegiate cross country athletes, when applicable (male and female for each of the three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and the NJCAA).
